Incorporated in 1963, Northland Properties is proudly 100% Canadian owned and operated, and recognized as one of Canada’s fastest-growing and most trusted names in hospitality.
Boasting a portfolio of well-known hotel, restaurant, resort, and sports brands across Canada, the UK, and the USA, Northland Properties continues to grow, fueled by a passion to create meaningful experiences for guests, communities, and team members.
Under the leadership of Northland CEO Tom Gaglardi, Northland Living was founded in 2022 as an extension of Northland Properties’ real estate business.
Northland Living was officially launched in 2023 to focus on the development of condo and mixed-use communities throughout Canada and Texas.
Northland Living focuses on redeveloping the company’s extensive land holdings in Canada and the U.S. and aims to develop exceptional residential towers and mixed-use communities in both countries.
Northland Properties has experienced recent success in downtown Austin’s Rainey District, investing in the 44 East Ave development, a similar high-rise offering to the Luminary.

Tom Gaglardi

Tom has known hospitality for his whole life. At the young age of 13, Tom began working for his family’s business as a busboy at the Sandman Inn Vancouver. Upon completing his studies at the University of British Columbia, he worked in several different areas of the company, gaining important experience in virtually all facets of the business.
With nearly 40 years of hands-on experience in the leadership and expansion of Northland’s hospitality, real estate, construction, sports and entertainment brands, Tom sets the company’s strategic direction and promotes a work culture that encourages learning, new opportunities, personal development and a strong desire to be the best in hospitality.
When he’s not working or spending time with his family, Tom enjoys cooking and playing golf.
Tony Kaleel
President & Chief Operating Officer,
Northland Living
Tony leads and oversees all aspects of Northland Living’s mixed-use development activities in Texas. He is an experienced developer that has been active in real estate acquisitions, development, and finance for more than two decades. Prior to co-founding Northland Living, he was an Executive Vice President at Intracorp, a merchant developer based in Vancouver, BC.
Tony graduated from the Urban Land Economics program at the University of British Columbia and earned his Bachelor of Business in Real Estate at Thompson Rivers University. He is involved in numerous business, charitable and community endeavors. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with family & friends, travelling abroad, and playing golf.
